01 1. About These Terms
These terms apply to every consultation and procedure booked with Hamilton Hemorrhoids, and to the information published on this site. Booking means accepting them. If anything here is unclear, ask before you book rather than afterwards.
We may revise these terms. The version and date at the head of this page show which one is current, and the terms in force on the day you booked are the ones that govern that booking.
02 2. What We Provide
Hamilton Hemorrhoids provides assessment and treatment of hemorrhoids and of the conditions that present in the same way, including anal fissures and skin tags. Assessment includes an external examination and, where appropriate, an anoscopy to establish the grade of internal hemorrhoids.
Treatment provided at this clinic is office-based: rubber band ligation, infrared coagulation and sclerotherapy, carried out in a clinic room without general anaesthetic. Surgical treatment is not performed here. Where surgery is the appropriate route, it is discussed and arranged rather than carried out by us.
03 3. Who We Can Treat
Office procedures are used for internal hemorrhoids of grades one to three that have not responded to conservative measures. Whether that applies to you is established by examination and cannot be settled in advance from a description, a photograph or a phone call.
Before banding we screen for pregnancy, cirrhosis, Crohn’s disease and immunosuppression, and we expect an endoscopic test to have been carried out within a reasonable interval beforehand. Any of those may change the plan or mean treatment is deferred or declined.
We will not treat rectal bleeding that has not been assessed, and certain findings mean referral for further investigation rather than treatment here. Those findings are published on the red flags page. This is a clinical limit rather than a commercial one and it is not waivable at your request.
04 4. Appointments and Cancellations
Appointments are offered subject to availability. We ask that you tell us about symptoms, relevant medical history and current medications, including anything bought over the counter, before your appointment where possible. Blood thinners in particular affect what can safely be done.
If you need to cancel or move an appointment, tell us as early as you can. Our current cancellation terms, including any charge for a missed appointment, are given to you when you book and are not varied by this page.
We may cancel or reschedule an appointment, including for clinical reasons discovered at the visit. If an examination cannot be completed comfortably on the day, we will stop and arrange to continue at another appointment rather than proceeding.
05 5. Fees, Payment and Insurance
No price for treatment is published on this site. Fees depend on the number of sessions a course requires, whether a visit is billed as a consultation or as a procedure, and what your insurance pays toward each. You are given a written figure covering the expected course before anything is booked.
Any figure given before an examination is an estimate. The session count comes from the examination, and if it changes, the revised figure is given to you at that point rather than at the end of a course.
Where you have insurance, we will check what your plan pays and whether a referral is required, but coverage is determined by your insurer and not by us. You remain responsible for any amount your plan does not pay, including amounts falling within a deductible.
06 6. Consent, Records and Privacy
Examination and treatment are carried out with your consent, and you may withdraw consent at any point, including during an examination. We will stop when asked to stop. What a procedure involves, and what is known and not known about its outcomes, is explained before it is agreed to.
We keep clinical records as required by law and professional obligation. Our handling of your information is described in our privacy policy, which applies alongside these terms.
Information you send us before an appointment, including symptoms and plan details, is used to prepare for that appointment and is held under the same terms as other clinical information.
07 7. Limits and Outcomes
No outcome is guaranteed. Hemorrhoids can recur after any treatment, because treatment addresses tissue that already exists rather than the pressure, straining and stool consistency that produced it. Nothing on this site should be read as a promise that a procedure is permanent.
Published outcome figures for these procedures vary widely between sources, and this site deliberately does not quote a single success rate, a single price, a recovery duration or a single interval between banding sessions. Where a figure is not sourced, it is not stated.
The information on this site is general information about hemorrhoids and their treatment. It is not medical advice, it is not a substitute for an examination, and reading it does not create a clinical relationship with Hamilton Hemorrhoids.
08 8. Concerns, Complaints and Governing Law
If you are unhappy with any aspect of your care or with these terms, raise it with us directly and as early as you can. We would rather address a concern at the time than have you leave it, and raising one does not affect the care you receive.
Where a concern cannot be resolved with us, you may refer it to the relevant regulator or professional body for the clinician involved.
These terms are governed by the law of the jurisdiction in which Hamilton Hemorrhoids operates. If any part of them is unenforceable, the remainder continues to apply.
